23 Jan The Shepherd’s Staff – December 2024
Greetings Mt. Pleasant Church from your elder team. As our hearts are still filled with thanksgiving, we make the transition to the Christmas season; a season of joy and a season of hope. With great anticipation, we patiently await the coming birth of our Savior, Immanuel!
In Luke chapter 1, the foretelling of Jesus’ birth was revealed to Mary through a visit from the angel, Gabriel. The Bible says that Mary was confused and disturbed, but even still she was obedient to the message that was shared. She trusted in God’s plan knowing she would be looked down upon given her circumstances. How refreshing it is to know that this lesson still applies to Christians today. No matter what worries or anxieties we face, if we trust in the gospel message, we too can boldly walk with Jesus daily glorifying Him all the way.
There are several opportunities this month to come together as a congregation to celebrate and glorify the coming Messiah. From the choir’s Christmas cantata to the multiple events aimed at getting our children involved, you’re sure to find a way to celebrate this Christmas season with your Mt. Pleasant family.
As we look to the new year, we would like to take the opportunity to thank Jon Sloan, Jay Payne and Kevin Logan for their service and dedication as elders for the past 3 years. Also, we would like to welcome Hunter Brooks, Stephen Garlick and Stan Bowen as they join the elders to faithfully serve Mt. Pleasant for the next 3 years.
“All right then, the Lord Himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call Him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).” Isaiah 7:14 NLT
