This past month the Elders have been working on the vacancy for our Pastoral Care pastor. We have advertised the position and have been speaking with applicants. Pray for our search that God would lead us to the person who He has selected for the job.Thanks to Jane Mendenhall for taking on the temporary role of Pastoral Care in her role as Deacon over this area.

The Elders began another series of training videos on personal spiritual growth. These studies have sparked some great discussion among us to share our experiences in personal Bible study and spiritual disciplines.

Some of the Elders are working with the youth to help them with what we’ve called “life skills”.We are helping them understand simple car maintenance and getting them involved in small projects to learn carpentry skills. Thanks to Joe and Danny for leading those efforts, along with Daniel and Donny B.

Danny has also been making excellent progress with the church security and EMS response teams.He is working to get volunteers trained and a structured team on site each Sunday for the safety and security of our congregation.

We have merged the 11:00 am services and will be conducting a single service in the sanctuary at least through the summer. If you haven’t visited the 11:00 service in the sanctuary, please consider attending to participate in our traditional worship service.

Lastly, we have sent out a flyer to see if our leadership and small group leaders are interested in receiving some training in Biblical Counseling. The Association of Certified Biblical Counselors offers training to assist Christians in becoming more comfortable offering Biblical counsel to those who are struggling. We are gauging interest in hopes we can get a reduced group rate. It is a self-paced course of on-line videos with an accompanying notebook over 15 weeks. Contact either Bo or Eric if you have questions about the training or how you can be involved. We are consolidating a list of interested members by the middle of June.

As always thanks to our staff for all the hard work on the upcoming summer programs. Jennifer, Donny, Greg and Felecia are all working with our volunteers to bring the Youth and Kids Summer programs to you.
