The Shepherd’s Staff – October 2024

Greetings Mt. Pleasant Church from your elder team. October is upon us and that typically ushers in cooler weather and the beginning of the fall season. Traditionally, in our culture, this time of year has always been viewed as the harvest season. Farmers spend their spring and summer months planting crops looking forward to the fall months for a bountiful harvest. As a body of believers, we should view every encounter with our fellow man as an opportunity for a different kind of harvest. In Matthew 9:37, Jesus said this; “He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.” At Mt. Pleasant, we are blessed with a pretty good field of workers but there is an abundance of lost souls in our community so there is always work to be done. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus and we should celebrate this opportunity with joy and excitement.

To highlight some of those opportunities, Family Night begins this month. What better way to fellowship with those in the community than with a delicious, home cooked meal and a Bible study. That’s 8 chances to invite a neighbor or friend to join us on Wednesday evenings to draw closer to God through His word.

Another opportunity to serve is our annual “Each One Feed One” food packing event. Volunteers from MTP will join together to pack meals for children overseas that are far less fortunate than what we’re accustomed to in the United States. The details can be found on our events page on the website. This is another great opportunity to boldly share the unfailing love of Jesus.

To cap off the month, our “Trunk or Treat”event has become one of largest outreach opportunities of the year. From serving hundreds of hotdogs, to handing out hundreds of Bibles, to passing out hundreds of pounds of candy, it is such a fun evening for our church family to fellowship together and to share the love of Jesus with the children of the community.

“God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬
